NFSSM Workshop

The Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India is implementing Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM) with a goal to make the country clean and open defecation free, and realizes the importance of establishing proper Fecal Sludge and Septage Management (FSSM) in this context. A National Workshop was held in New Delhi on 9th September 2016 for 131 cities, shortlisted cities under Smart Cities and AMRUT.




The Workshop highlighted various initiatives by different State Government and provided a platform for cross learning and moving ahead for effective implementation of FSSM. The National Fecal Sludge and Septage Management (NFSSM) Alliance, a group of 20 organizations of which we are one of the members, is supporting the MoUD in this initiative.




A Declaration, first on its kind by any country, was signed by the Government and all participating Mission Directors, as a commitment to take forward FSSM.
